Internet marketing, known also as online or Emarketing, is marketing of goods and/or services through the medium of the Internet.

Internet marketing has certain advantages over traditional marketing methods, chief among them being the low cost involved in the global distribution of your product information.

Plus of course, the web can be interactive. Want to see how your new car would look in green? Click the mouse. Want to hear an extract from the album you're thinking of buying? Click the mouse. Want to buy it now? Click the mouse. These qualities are - so far - unique to the internet.

Where this helps the startup is that for a comparatively modest outlay you're a player in the global marketplace and not just the regional one. A properly optimised web site will gain you a visual prominence that no amount of leafleting or newspaper ads or even TV can achieve. All these methods are like throwing mud at the prospect wall

Every leaflet going to a household that doesn't want or need your product is money down the drain. A TV ad necessarily covers a blanket audience so much of the distribution is mistargeted.
